Door Kickers on Steam + Update 4.2

capsule_lg

Hello, Door Kickers!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has come. No, not the “you can now tazer your team-mate” update, the other one 🙂 Door Kickers is live on Steam!

After 52,368 YES votes and having reached even #1 out of 1400+ games on Greenlight, we got approved by Valve on the 8th of August! Some legal steps were then completed, some stuff was coded in, and then we were out. And we have YOU to thank for all of this!

Your Door Kickers Steam Activation Key will be sent to you via email. Let us know if you don’t receive it in the following hours.

Before you ask, Door Kickers might use some cool Steam features in the future but will not require a Steam account. You are not required to use the key and the game will still be available to you via our DRM-free download links.

Speaking of which, we’re also launching a small update today, version 0.0.42 or shall we say Alpha 4,5. Its mainly a “fix and tune” build, focusing on the realistic shooting methods voted for by the community and various friendly and enemy AI improvements. These will completely change the game, the way troopers enter a room and the resulting combat. Expect troopers to wait for flashbang explosion before going in the room and – in general – not step on each other’s toes so much during movement. Also expect the enemies to act a little different, from the way they shoot to how they check out surrounding areas.

To get the latest build, we recommend you use the original download link you received when purchasing the game (no worries if you lost it – drop us a line at devteam (at) inthekillhouse.com).

What’s new in this version (Alpha 4 / Ver 0.0.42) of Door Kickers:

Features:

– Added realistic shooting methods.
– SWAT now wait for flashbangs to explode before proceeding on their path.
– SWAT now wait on doors if there is a flashbang being thrown through that door.
– SWAT better stacking at doors.
– Added an in-game “News” panel where you will be notified of new updates and/or community news.
– Greatly improved FPS on older video cards (and newer ones as well).
– Distance is now shown when rclick-dragging.
– Game loads fasters now.
– Added new ambiental music.

Bugs & Fixes:

– Fixed corners bug (again): when close to a corner, an enemy could shoot you but you could not see him (and viceversa).
– Fixed flashbang trajectory not being correctly calculated in some situations.
– Fixed some old video drivers compatibility problems.
– Fixed an enemy AI going through walls.
– Fixed tooltips still showing after mission ending.

That would be all. Keep an eye out for Alpha 5. And yes, we do realize its ironic – Door Kickers use keys?!
