We knew that Door Kickers had potential as a tool for the MIL / LEO user. Whether as Training App or as a Briefing / Mission Planning aid, we knew our game would be useful, and wanted to do more.

Many of you have come over here and confirmed it, or wrote to us describing how you actually took the game and used it to record footage for class presentations. Or suggested features or ways to make it more useful for these purposes. The game already does a good job at showing flow patterns in an easy to understand form, but a Serious Training Application should do much more than that.

Therefore, a Serious version of Door Kickers started to take shape. But as we wanted both the Training version and the Game version to offer the best experience to their respective users we partnered up with BlackFoot Studios for the develoment of the former.

Lead by John Sonedecker of Redstorm fame, Blackfoot Studios have long championed the realistic tactical shooter and are developing their own game - Ground Branch. I've been following that project for a while and have high hopes for it. I also know of their experience in developing more "serious stuff" ;) and this makes them ideal to spearhead our joint Mil/Sim effort.

What impact will this move have on the development of DK (the game)?

If you're thinking bad impact, shouldn't have any.

Well, what does that mean at all?
I followed Blackfoot studios a few years, but lost hope regarding their NORG idea and Ground Branch. What I have seen of GB, I like very much. Yet after all these years I do not hold my breath anymore for a possible release.

So, why work with them or better: What to expect out of this friendship? Sure, can't hurt... yet what's the benefit?

I have followed BFS / Ground Branch and donated for it twice, and have been in contact with John for a while. Like any indie studio they need money to support themselves.

BFS have the experience and connections to market the Training Tool and develop it in the right direction.
And then both BFS and KHG can expect some money from it :) In our case, the money will also help Door Kickers develop faster / better.
