Door Kickers update + iPad version!
Today we celebrate the launch of Door Kickers on iPads, which is a big milestone for us and a project we had in mind for a long time. But since you are reading this announcement you obviously are a PC player and want to know how this affects you. Here are the quick facts:
- Door Kickers iPad is the exact same hardcore game you know and love, but has the interface adapted for smaller screens and touch controls
- The game supports cross platform saves compatibility. This means that you can game on the PC when at home… or at work, export the save and continue playing on your iPad! No need to start from scratch on the new platform, you will use your elite squad from the PC.
- The iPad release brings a new campaign and 2 new weapons. These have also been added to the PC version via patch 1.08.
- One of the new weapons is the suppressed Six 12 shotgun, available to both breachers and Stealth troopers. It should open up some interesting tactical options.
- Using the iPad you can show your awesome tactical skills to your buddies.
- Most importantly, development on the PC continues.
OK, where can i check this iPad version out? https://appsto.re/ro/sg8j6.i
Now for the actual patch briefing for the new version (both PC and iPad):
————————————————————————————————————–
New Features:
- New campaign, in celebration of the iPad release.
- Two new shotguns.
- Tablet mode: activate the new GUI and control scheme optimized for touchscreen displays and trackpads.
- Added import/export save-games capability, to share progress between different platforms (PC-Mac-Linux-iOS).
- Improved path-drawing smoothness on some maps.
- Increased maximum zoom-in distance.
Fixes:
- Saved plan no longer randomly resetting when restarting a mission.
- Fixed incorrect window size when sometimes running in Windows 8.1 (high-dpi scaling).
- Fixed crash under certain conditions in the deploy screen.
- Music is now looping after winning a mission.
- Various fixes and improvements for many maps.
- Issue where troopers could go through doors.
- Bug where gocodes would get canceled.
- Trackpad right-click emulation changed to Z (though now you should activate the Tablet mode option).
- Various other improvements and fixes regarding GUI and gameplay.
- Music is now streamed instead of keeping it whole in memory, which should fix some crashes on 2GB systems.
- Fixed starting resolution on Windows high-dpi devices.
Have fun, and let us know which version do you prefer, and why 🙂
The new “Tablet Mode” option, with the GUI/Controls optimized for touch-screen displays or trackpads:
PS:
Wait, what about my iPhone?
We are investigating some of the larger screen phones, but can’t make any promises at the moment.
Door Kickers for tablets sounds terrific, but I only have this Android tablet (and it kicks ass)!
Once the smoke clears over the iPad launch, porting to Android is our main focus.

That was a great campaign! I managed to get all of the stars but I gotta say, that outdoors one was quite hard. ;D
Great job guys, and I love the new silenced shotgun, might encourage me to actually use stealth tactics sometime. 😛

Oh yeah, I ran to the computer as soon as I got the message about the new update and instantly bought the new guns and tried them out, then I played through the campaign in maybe half an hour or so. 😛
But I’m definatly going to play it sometime again, one of my favourites. 😀

Did you purchase from our website? If so, by using the same link you first received when purchasing.
Steam updates automatically, GoG/Humble should update the builds today.

You mean the Steam code?
You need to install Steam from here: http://store.steampowered.com/
Without Steam, just download the game from the link given in the email.

I just bought this on PC through Steam – an absolutely phenomenal game! Definitely glad I bought it! (Would love to get it on my Android phone at some point so I can play it on the go; so, I’ll be keeping up with your updates!)
Two issues though: 1) I can’t get the game to switch to Windowed mode, even though I have it selected in the options and 2) for some reason, whenever I start a mission, all of the music and sounds just stop working – so, I’ve had to play all of the missions with no audio.

Thanks for the support! 🙂
For windowed mode, you need to set a lower-than-screen resolution, is this the case?
The audio problem is weird, try this: go to where the game is installed and rename OpenAL32.dll to OpenAL32.old. Now rename OpenAL32_haccel.dll to OpenAL32.dll.
Let me know if this works, if it doesn’t send me an email with the log.txt file from Documents/KillHouseGames/DoorKickers to pintea(at)inthekillhouse(dot)com and I’ll see what’s wrong.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! Okay, by lowering the screen resolution in the options, I am able to play the game in windowed mode. Thanks for the tip!
Also, apparently, the sound works just fine – it seems that the game just doesn’t like my Bluetooth headset ^_^
When I play the game with my computer speakers as the default, the sound works perfectly. So, no complaints!
Don’t know why I didn’t just try that sooner =p

If the iPad version goes well, we could afford porting the game on iPhones as well. It’s tough work since we need to redo the entire GUI 🙁

It was great but maybe add a minigun and military person? And if you could add on the iPad the option to make your own level like in the pc and one last add is to be able to call reinforcements and the reinforcements have their own ai? Well… Maybe that’s too much but it was a fantastic game! Bye!

This game is great! Just wondering: are there any plans for a multiplayer option? Being able to put together a “cops versus terrorists” battle where you plan out your movements before the battle and then just watch it play out to see who wins would be amazing.

Also, are there any plans for costume changes? I love to be able to change my officers’ wardrobe to include such things as military camo or otherwise. It would, just, add a little more variety and would look pretty cool, I think.

When is the new update coming out..? It’s been quite a while, and I was excited to see the crashes fixed and new weapons coming out, but nope.
