State of the Nation Address – AS, DK1, DK2
Action Squad
Last month we (low key) won at the MomoCon Game Awards in Atlanta!
After being selected among the 20 finalists, we managed to snatch one of the five winning spots, which puts Action Squad on the same list with other legendary alumni like Shadow Tactics, Not a Hero or The Talos Principle.
Unfortunately we weren’t there to accept the prize, so this press release is all we have to show for it.
In other news, we’re currently talking with a couple of publishers for bringing the game on all major consoles (Switch, PS4, XBOX).
We’ve considered doing the porting ourselves, but that means it will only take longer for you guys to play it. While a simultaneous release with the PC version would be nice, it doesn’t look possible any more, since we’d like to have the PC version released this autumn.
Door Kickers
After getting tired of answering forum questions of “what similar games to Door Kickers do you know?”, we got together will the makers of all other existing awesome top-down tactics games and made this:
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/6741/Tactical_Masters_Bundle/
A one-stop-shop for all your top-down tactical needs!
In other news, we apologize for the outdated stats in our infographic of the Cooperative Multiplayer version, we had to make some updates to it:
And lastly: long live the (Chinese) modders! The awesome folks that did the Chinese localization have agreed to let us use it for the stock game, so we’ll be adding official Chinese translation to the Steam version very soon.
Door Kickers 2
Unfortunately it was cancell…. just kidding!
In case you were wondering, we are aware of all the “where the fuck is dk2” messages on facebook, twitter, forums, email, personal phones and PO boxes, but we honestly didn’t have a clear plan of where the project was headed.
We are very, very behind schedule, due to various reasons which there’s no use over analyzing right now (the game was completely on hold for some time), but the important thing is that we’re working on it!
We lack development resources right now (programming mainly), which we’re trying to solve, but it’s hard considering we’re not using a third party engine and experience with building custom engines is hard to find.
DK2 will be a very big step up from DK1 (design/art/tech) and we’re just realizing that it won’t be possible with the same small teams as for DK1 or Action Squad (“technically” speaking, Action Squad is one programmer, while DK1 was one full-time programmer and a couple of part-time programmers).
We’ll try to document our progress more often from now on, but currently there’s nothing “pretty” to show, we’re just building the underlaying technology while having mostly stand-in graphics and unfinished animations.
But since you probably won’t believe us, here’s a prototype we did for a new control scheme, which was later removed.

DK1 is amazing, so I hope DK2 will be even better. I also hope DK2 will be more coop/multiplayer based, because I love the coop mode in DK1. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, the Door Kickers is the hugest thing that came out of Romania since King Michael I. and Gheorghe Hagi… So take a great work you made with Door Kickers I a notch or two higher and I’m sure you’ll get some national medals for representing the country abroad. And BTW I think you should make some 20-30 new levels (those complicated ones with many floors) for DK I., that game is playable over and over and the new one that you’re working on will make no difference (I think both can work side by side as well, one as a “police-centred”, the other as “special-army-units-centred”). So hire more programmers, they can’t be so expensive in Romania (500 Eur a year?), make a great new entry into the series and keep supporting the first DK, guys! I mean, really… You have killed some much time of my life with DK 1, we can’t stop now…

Thank you for the amazing Door Kickers game! I love it very much.
I’m thrilled that a follow-up Door Kickers 2 is still in the works.
I’m a programmer and know at least some of the challenges — may you have a bug-free steady progress towards a stellar release!
Take your time
