Well, one more game i can add to the list of “not ready”, “we are not satisfied with the result”,” we want to deliver the best product”
“our vision is so big, it will take years” …etc.
Now anyone can do something similar in next months and release it …everyone will talk about the “game like door kickers but in 3D”. really…And if there’s a n*2 there will be n* 3… there is space for improvements.
The quality standard are not so high nowaday (and proof, you are releasing a retro 2d spinoff)
Disagree on the assumption that retro 2D graphics = low standards, or less work.
But otherwise you’re correct, usually those kind of excuses for delaying games hide other issues, in our case it’s probably just burnout from DK1, we just needed a refresh with Action Squad, hope it works 🙂
KillHouse’s unique take on the tactics genre has made a far firmer impression on consumers than the industry, IMO. I’m not concerned or hopeful about other studios preempting DK2’s release with a truly comparable product.
I do agree that, from a consumer perspective, DK2’s scope looks to be larger than is organic for KillHouse (an assumption on my part). Developers commonly take on more ambitious products than they realize, but consumers are far worse about underestimating the work that goes into them. This is especially true of 2D games.

Door Kickers 2 is a separate project and our main focus, and we’re not ready to announce a release date for it.
